I am really looking forward to the coming week! In math we will continue our multiplication facts study. Students will learn many different strategies to solve unknown facts and practice these strategies through challenging word problems. In science we will finish our Changes from Heat investigation and assess on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday we will begin studying mixtures and solutions. In social studies we are going to begin a three week project on Native Americans who lived in Texas. Students will work in partners to study the different tribes. They will then have to create or a draw an artifact that represents each Texas tribe. Also, students will be asked to write about each artifact. These artifacts will be turned into a museum for all of the class to tour. During our language arts block students will begin a two week long research project. Each student will be asked to choose a famous person to write a biography about. We will use a variety of sources to research as well as spend time in the library and the computer lab. The finished project will include a well written biography, a work cited page, and a presentation with a prop or costume. I am sending a letter home on Monday with more details about the project. Have a fantastic weekend! Please feel free to contact me at anytime should you have any questions or concerns.
