Another successful week has gone by! This coming week in math we will begin our division unit. During the first few weeks of this unit we will focus on basic division facts and how they relate to basic multiplication facts. If your child has not yet mastered all of his/her basic multiplication facts please make sure he/she is practicing every night. In science we will start studying electricity, conductors, and insulators. In social we will discuss missions, presidios, and early towns in Texas. During language arts we will begin an expository unit in both reading and writing. Students will read expository pieces and discuss facts and opinions, and students will write about something they are an expert on. Homework this week will be formatted the same as past weeks with math homework on Monday and Wednesday and reading homework on Tuesday and Thursday. In addition to reading homework on Tuesday your child will now have spelling homework. From now on a list will be sent home with your child every Monday and a test will be given in class at the end of each week. They will have a spelling assignment every Tuesday. Please practice these words with your child every night. Also, don’t forget Wednesday is early release. School dismisses at 12:45. Have a fantastic weekend!
