December 5-9

What a great week back after our Thanksgiving break! Next week we will begin several new units. In math we will start studying fractions. We will compare, order, and identify fractions that are equivalent, less than one, and greater than one. In science, we will start studying how the surface of the earth changes through weathering, erosion, and deposition. Our social studies and language arts blocks will be combined again next week. I am very excited to begin reading The Mysteries of the Alamo Ghost. We will relate this novel to the Texas Revolution from our social studies book. We will also summarize, identify cause/effect relationships, and define important vocabulary words from our book.  Homework will be the same as this past week. Math homework will be assigned on Monday and Wednesday, vocabulary homework will be given on Tuesday, spelling sentences on Wednesday, and summary writing on Thursday. Please make sure your child is still reading every night for at least 20 minutes. Also, don’t forget early release is Wednesday, December 7. Have a fantastic weekend!
