February 13 - 17

I can’t believe how fast February is passing! This coming week in math, we will continue our measurement unit focusing on capacity in both the customary and metric systems. You can help your child at home by having him/her measure ingredients when you cook. Also, point out labels at the grocery store that have liquid measurements on them such as fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, milliliters, and liters. In science, we will begin studying patterns on earth and in space. We will focus on phases of the moon, high tides and low tides, and seasons. During social studies, we will discuss the Texas Frontier. In our language arts block, we will write another expository essay. We will also read and compare/contrast different texts. Homework will follow the usual pattern. Don’t forget our class picture day is Wednesday, February 15th. Also, our Valentine’s party will be on Tuesday, February 14th at 1:45. So far I have volunteers to bring cupcakes and juice. Please let me know if and what you are planning to send for our party. Thank you very much for all your continuous support! Have a great weekend!
