First Week of School!

It was wonderful meeting so many smiling faces during the Welcome Walk and Back to School Night. I am extremely excited about this year! During the first week of school, we will spend quite a bit of time getting to know each other and building community in our classroom. I am only giving one homework assignment this week. Each child will be asked to create a name poster (I will provide the paper and directions) that tells all about himself/herself. The assignment will be explained on Monday and is due on Friday, August 31st. On Friday, we will present our posters and learn more about one another. On Monday morning, all students go directly to their classrooms (after breakfast). Starting Tuesday, fourth graders who arrive before 7:40 need to report to the gym. A designated teacher will monitor the area until 7:40 when the classroom teachers pick up their classes. During this time, we are asking all fourth graders to read silently. Please make sure you send your child to school with a book on Monday morning and everyday after. If you have not yet completed the Parent Contact form or the Beginning of the Year Parent Questionnaire please do so as soon as possible. The links are located on the left side of the blog under Important Links. Also, a Parent and Student Handbook will be sent home on Monday. Please complete the appropriate forms and return them as soon as possible. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you this year to make your child's school experience as successful as possible.
