December 10 - 14

We made it through another wonderful week! Next week is going to be packed full. From Monday to Thursday students will be taking district Curriculum Based Assessments (CBA) in reading, math, science, and writing. Each test is timed and is based on the curriculum that we have been teaching. Please make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep every night next week and eats a filling breakfast every morning. Testing will occur in the mornings, so we will still have time to for our core subjects. In math next week, students will begin studying division with large numbers. During science, students will study changes to land including weathering, erosion, and deposition. In language arts, students will take their notes and compositions that they have been working on and use them to complete a project. Students will get to choose between a memory box/suitcase, a bio board, or a PowerPoint presentation. We are still in need of empty cereal boxes (or other boxes shaped similar to a cereal box) for our projects. Please remember that next week is the Peppermint Village Holiday Shoppe. Students will have an opportunity to purchase gifts for family members and friends. Our class is going to visit the Holiday Shoppe on Wednesday, but students are welcome to go on their own during lunch, recess, and after school. Also, next Friday is PTA movie Night featuring The Polar Express. The movie starts at 6:30. Feel free to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and wear your pajamas. Finally, our class will have our Winter Celebration on Thursday, December 20th. A letter explaining the celebration and asking for donations will be sent home in Thursday folders. If you would like to donate to our celebration, you can sign-up for an item by filling out the bottom of the form and returning it or using the Winter Celebration Sign-Up Form located on the left side of my blog. As always, feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!
