I can't believe how fast September is passing. We have another very busy week ahead of us. On Monday, all fourth graders will have the opportunity to listen to a real author. Phil Bildner, author of numerous children's books and winner of the Bluebonnet Award, will be coming to Wells Branch to speak to the fourth grade about writing. He will share some of the strategies he uses as a professional writer. In math next week, we are continuing our multiplication unit. Please make sure your child is practicing his/her multiplication facts every night so that he/she is prepared for the 3rd Annual Multiplication Bee on September 27th. In science, we will be classifying matter. Our class will be completing an investigation in the science lab on Friday from 12:55-1:35. If you would like to volunteer in the lab that day please contact Ms. Leining. Next week in social studies is Constitution Week. We are going to be talking about the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the United States Constitution. In writing, we will continue/finish our personal narratives. During reading, we will review plot and characters. Please make sure you child reads for at least 20 minutes every night and fills out his/her reading log. Don't forget that next Wednesday is early release. All students will be dismissed at 12:45. Also, progress reports will be sent home in Thursday folders next week. Please make sure to sign and return these as soon as possible. One last thing...The Fall PTA Fundraiser order forms are due next Friday, September 21st. This is a great opportunity to raise money for our school, so please do your part. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Drain
