November 12 - 16

Only one week and two days until a much needed Thanksgiving Break. Next week will be very busy. In math, students will begin learning multiplication strategies to solve two digit by one digit and two digit by two digit problems. The strategies that we introduce might not be familiar to you (I did not learn these growing up). If you are confused about your child' homework, please use the videos and pictures on Ms. Leining's blog (http://msleiningsclass.blogspot.com/) to assist you. In science, students will study force. During social studies, students will continue to study the early settlements in Texas. In language arts, we will finish our poetry unit. Students will be revising, editing, publishing, and presenting poems. To celebrate our hard work, we are having a Poetry Slam on Friday from 8:30-9:00. We would love for you to join us during our poetry readings. During reading, students will compare poems to other literary texts. There is a PTA meeting next Tuesday at 6:30 followed by a Veteran's Day Program. Also, please don't forget that next Thursday is our Thanksgiving Lunch. Our lunch time for Thursday is 12:36-1:06. One last thing, next week students will attend a Reptile Show in honor of raising $28,000 during our Fall Fundraiser. Thank you all for your continuous support. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Drain
